The Sugar Adventure - Discover the intimately linked history of Mauritius and its people with that of sugar; it's an eco-museum, a boutique, and a restaurant—a one-stop shop in a sumptuous setting. Opening Hours: •The Museum - Monday – Saturday (including public holidays): 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. •The Restaurant - Monday – Saturday (including public holidays): 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. •The Boutique - Monday – Saturday (including public holidays): 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. INCLUDES: 1- Museum Tour An immersive journey to the heart of a 19th-century sugar factory and estate. This is an opportunity to discover the engineering of a people who, through hard work and courage, have successfully valued and preserved their precious sugarcane and developed a sugarcane sector at the forefront of agro-technological advances and the energy transition. 2- Tasting workshops featuring local products at the Village Boutik: • The range of Mauritian cane sugars, both raw and whole, exported to the world's leading delicatessens, • High-end rums aged in oak barrels, infused with special sugars, and flavored liqueurs, • Exotic honeys and jams, and tropical vanilla, a delight for young and old alike! 3- Sugarcane Cutting Activity Accompanied by team members, visitors travel in small groups to the heart of the lush plantations of Beau Plan to learn how to cut sugarcane and learn more about the specific characteristics of this perennial plant and the profession of sugarcane cutter. After the cutting, they visit the Museum followed by a demonstration of sugarcane pressing. Finally, participants try their hand at mixology by preparing a delicious exotic cocktail themselves. A fun, educational, and delicious program that is a delight for everyone. 4- Lunch at Le Frangourin Restaurant (4 courses) • APPETIZERS: Mixed appetizers from Le Frangourin, served on garlic and parsley toast • STARTERS: Fish and green papaya salad • MAIN COURSE: -Menu A: Mildly spiced poultry with a creamy sauce -Menu B: Grilled babonne steak and seasonal vegetable fricassee -Menu C: Braised beef curry* with local spices, breadfruit medallion Sides (applicable to all menus): white rice, coconut and mint chutney *Braised venison stew, subject to availability • DESSERT: Mango and toasted coconut mousse, tea, coffee, or herbal tea.
